Sorry folks, been pretty sick this week, so I'm both behind and don't have as many good patterns and pics as I'd like. But enough woe is me, here is what you are looking for:
First - here's the link to the March Brown Madness event coming up this Saturday in Brunswick Maine - it is a hoot.
and here is a link, the following weekend to the Western Maine Fly Fishing Expo - which is also a great time:
Here is the article about the Australian kid who was attacked by a roving mob of amphipods (really!):
I've gone through my pics, and honestly, as I mentioned, these guys are small and I don't have really great pics of them. But here are a few that were on my float tube:
Amazingly, I found the 47 attempts at getting a picture of a beach flea, and found one that was ok! Here it is:
And here is a not too bad pic of a pair of scuds close up - they've been pickled so they've lost their color, but you can see the structure of their legs and carapace.
for patterns I don't have a lot for you - sorry, like I've said, I've been under the weather - so I haven't been tying or taking photos this last week. But here's one of my favorites - called, I think, a Jelly Bean:
It is ostrich herl for the legs, with built up layers of UV glue as the shell back. A wire (or thread) rib and you color one of the layers of UV glue to give it whatever color you want. Nice, easy and it looks good.
